About the Levites
The Call:
Although a lifelong dream, it wasn’t until mid 2009, that Min John Reed felt the tug of the Holy Spirit leading HIM to push forward in forming his own choir ministry. Already blessed with the opportunity to help build other choirs, and even participate with local and national ministries and artist, Min Reed felt an urgency that would not go away. Desiring to do GOD’s will Min Reed continued in prayer and fasting, while he shared his vision with those whom GOD laid on his heart, who also began praying with him in seeing GOD’s vision realized. the invitation was extended to those whom he felt GOD placed on his heart to work with , as well as those he had participated in ministry with, in the past. The response was beyond his expectations! Despite naysayers and well-meaning acquaintances who spoke against the idea, God met Min Reed at every turn and fork in the road, and he has never looked back! The first rehearsal was held at “Superintendent “ Earl Newton’s church, Whole Truth COGIC on Saturday, January 30, 2010. The first concert was held on Easter Weekend, April 3, 2010 with over 300 in attendance to the event.
The Name:
The name, “The Order of The Levites”, came about through a conversation between Min. Reed and Min. Michael Williams who were conversing about different choir names and the biblical history behind them. Min. Reed didn't just want to be another singing group of individuals, just getting together with no real purpose or significance. While Min Williams was sharing ideas for choir names He mentioned the name The Order of The Levites. He began to describe their call, and purpose of dedicated lifestyle of worship before GOD, as he felt this was impressed upon His heart as the focal point for Min Reed’s choir ministry. Through prayer, A mutual agreement was made and this name was chosen. The Levites in the Old Testament ministered in the house of GOD daily. They were often ostracized,with no other positions, and their lives were not their own. However these were the servants hand -picked by God to protect & maintain the upkeep of the temple. They were called to a life of worship and dedication to God's service for the remainder of their earthly lives.
The Ministry:
Besides a lifestyle of worship and dedication, The Levites desire to give back to the community by helping others through word and deed. Their desire to live the life they sing about has been evident through each and every engagement they've ministered in. The presence of the Lord continues to fall in a powerful way bringing about change, healing, deliverance, restoration, direction, and more to all of those who come in contact with them. As a community choir, the various members have experienced deliverance, healing, and the miraculous in their own personal lives,as they come together on one accord,serving with singleness of heart and purpose. Each has their own testimony of brokeness, challenges, and more, but have realized through the blood of Christ they are all victorious and are now members of a new family. As a family they desire to extend their hands and their hearts to various outreach opportunities. The Levites have provided, food, clothing and other necessary services within the community, and abroad, to the earthquake disaster victims in Chile, Haiti, and Mexico through gifting organizations. They're desire is to provide some of the same hope, healing and restoration, they have experienced through the LOVE of Christ. Ministry for them is more than just singing, its about giving back!
Moving Forward:
After being together only a short time, just under a year, The Levites have continued in growth of members as well as in having the privilege to share in numerous musicals & concerts within the "Valley of the Sun", and within the US. As they continue to press forward into the new year,they desire to go abroad, so keep them in your prayers! Also be on the lookout for their upcoming Live Recording and various other projects that will soon come forth from this amazing ministry.
